Cisco Systems Mobile Hotspot Locator:
Cisco Systems, the leading worldwide provider of Internet Protocol-based (IP) networking solutions, selected eTango to design and develop a Java Application for Cell Phones that allows users to locate the closest 802.11 B WiFi Hotspots.

The application (pictured to the right) provided users with a progressive list filter to locate the closest Hotspot.

It began with choosing a State, then City, then venues. The user would then select a venue which would provide detailed information and the exact location of the Hotspot.

The application design included the ability to access information directly from Cisco's backend systems. These systems are continuously updated with new locations of Hotspots.

The application was designed using Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME) code on the Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP). It ran on the Motorola i85s phone on the Nextel iDen Cellular Network.
