San Francisco, February 1, 2002 The Panasonic Digital Concept
Center office in Cupertino is now home to a Unified Home Networking
demonstration that includes two Panasonic IP network cameras,
a Panasonic home gateway, and software from eTango.
The eTango web service software is installed on a network
server and provides a unified portal interface with authentication,
a shared calendar, photo album, news board, and connection
to devices in the home area network. A second component of
the eTango software is installed on the Panasonic home gateway
and allows for the exchange of information between the Panasonic
devices, and the eTango web service software. This component
is OSGi compliant and allows for images from the KME IP network
camera, to be packaged up and sent using SOAP RPC (XML) for
storage in the eTango online photo album. Once there the images
are accessible from any Internet connected device with a browser.
The eTango @ttract software on the home gateway also allows
for access to numerous IP network cameras through a single
IP address without using port forwarding. This makes a very
unified, simple solution available to the consumer.
eTango is a software technology company that is pioneering
software solutions that connect devices, applications, and
services inside the networked home to make life simpler for
consumers.
